Visionary French dance DJ. In-demand producer. Multi-platinum selling artist. David Guetta is all of these. And as anyone who buys tickets for David Guetta’s legendary club nights knows, he excels at exciting his crowd to a state of frenzied dance euphoria.
DJ-ing almost from the time he left school, David Guetta quickly discovered a love for house music and was hosting his own club nights in Paris at the age of eighteen.
Founding ‘Gum Productions’ in 2001, his first single “Just a Little More Love” preceded an album of the same title and a second single “Love Don’t Let Me Go” in 2002. The album was extremely well-received, selling 300,000 copies across Europe. The second album, 2004’s Guetta Blaster brought even greater success and featured collaborations with Chris Willis and Stereo MCs.
Named ‘Best International DJ’ in 2006, David Guetta released his hotly anticipated third album Pop Life the following year. Hugely successful, it sold more than 500,000 copies, also earning Guetta the title of ‘World’s Best-selling DJ’. A world tour to promote his unique electro/pop/house/dance fusions followed.
Global stardom was cemented with 2009’s One Love which spawned two international chart-topping tracks and features collaborations with Fergie, Kelly Rowland, Estelle and Akon.
David Guetta achieves the impossible by making the eclectic sound of the underground club scene accessible to the masses. Skillfully mixing tracks on the fly, he fuses music styles that shouldn’t mix in any credible way. But as David Guetta says “I’m not trying to be credible. I’m trying to be incredible”.
